How it all started

If someone were to ask me what I do for a living, the answer would probably be accounting. This might come off as a bit odd, especially if you’re reading this from a website related to car detailing.

Why would an accountant be operating his own mobile detailing business? Well, it’s because I want experience in various aspects of running a business. As an accountant, a lot of the work is behind the scenes and after the fact. We have a good idea on how well a business is doing financially and what it can afford but we’re not always in the drivers seat when it comes to making operational decisions. I think its important for me to experience the operational aspect a business, so I can provide greater value through feasible recommendations.

As for why I chose mobile detailing specifically, it’s because it has low startup costs and can help me achieve my goal by allowing me to:

1) Interact with customers and learn to provide exceptional customer service.

2) Understanding online marketing, and what businesses can do to help it stand out from competitors.

3) Understanding the value of goods and services, and learning to budget effectively.

4) Understand and learn how to manage staff (if I reach that point)

I don’t expect the business to take off and be successful overnight, that’s just not how life works. My dream for this business is for it to become something I can be proud of, and benefit the communities I serve. I want to operate this business long enough so that I can:

1) Hire my own staff and give our future youth the opportunity to gain the work experience they need to help them advance in their career.

2) Donate to charities and support those that are less well off.

3) Supporting seniors in the local communities, who may not be able to clean and manage their car actively.
